August Reads

Hope everyone is having a lovely late summer! I know I can’t wait for some cooler weather (90-plus weather every day for weeks now). Hot cocoa season is just around the corner!

Here are some of my end-of-summer reads. Enjoy!

RoseBlood

RoseBlood by A. G. Howard-

I enjoyed the first Splintered novel by Howard, so when I saw she had written a retelling of The Phantom of the Opera, I had to give it a try. It was a little slow in the beginning but overall was a good read. The author did a good job of incorporating both the original story by Leroux as well as Webber’s musical while putting the characters in a modern setting. Not as good as her retelling of Alice in Wonderland, but I would still recommend this book for Phantom fans. Add it to your Goodreads list here:

Sleeping Giants (Themis Files, #1)

Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel-

Absolutely amazing sci-fi! I could not put this book down! Written in the form of interviews and journal entries, this book has a unique style that hooks you right from page one. I cannot wait to read the second book! Add to your Goodreads list here:

The World's Most Haunted House

The World’s Most Haunted House by William J. Hall-

I am looking forward to Halloween, and the summer isn’t even over yet… I picked this up a while ago, after reading The Haunted House Diaries by the same author. This is equally as captivated (and terrifying). This book also features the Warrens (the couple in The Conjuring 1 & 2). If you are looking for a spooky read based on a true story, this is it.
